What To Do
One of the reasons we love Grand Marais so much is there is so much to do. We wanted to provide some links to some activities for you to enjoy when you are in the area for our wedding, and any other time you visit!
The North House Folk School is an amazing place that offers classes in just about anything you can think of applicable to living on the North Shore. Click here for the May class schedule and events, and be sure to check back often as this will be updated throughout the months leading up to the wedding!
If you would really like to get in the mood for our "sailing themed" wedding, what better way then to sail on Lake Superior? Pending weather, North House also does chartered tours aboard their 50' traditionally rigged, double mast schooner, Hjørdis.
With the Gunflint Trail and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area being so close by, there are miles of hikes to try out as well as beautiful scenic drives surrounding Grand Marais. As Ben and Lindsey call it their "Moose Mission" each time they are in town, see if you can site any moose or other wildlife while out and about. (Hint: the moose really like the marshy areas!)
Our longtime favorite restaurant is an absolute must during our trips up north. If you have time, check out The Angry Trout for lunch or dinner. All of their fish is caught fresh from Lake Superior by local fisherman and their pesto spinach fettuccine as a side dish is to die for.
Other amazing places to check out:
Chez Jude (Our caterer for the wedding)
Cook County Coop
Gunflint Tavern
Sven and Ole's Pizza
Betty's Pies (Just outside of Two Harbors going to or coming from Grand Marais)
Coho Cafe & Bakery (Awesome lunch stop in Tofte)
Lutsen Resort
Superior National (Golf Course in Lutsen)
